The Arkansas Forestry Service has placed 69 of the state’s 75 counties under a heightened risk for wildfires, including Fulton, Sharp, Izard, Lawrence, and Randolph counties. The warning reflects dry conditions and increased fire hazards across much of Arkansas.
Villa Fire Chief Logan Stone is urging residents in affected areas to avoid outdoor burning. “If you must burn outdoors, do not leave fires unattended,” Stone advised, emphasizing the critical need for caution.
Six counties, all in the northwest corner of the state, remain outside this high fire danger category. These include Benton, Washington, Madison, Carroll, Boone, and Newton counties, which currently face lesser risk.
State fire officials continue to monitor conditions closely and encourage residents to stay alert for updates. Prolonged dry weather can escalate fire threats, making vigilance crucial in the days ahead.
