Two cadets from the Mountain Home High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) marksmanship team accepted a $5,000 donation at the annual Second Amendment Dinner on Tuesday. The contribution is set to strengthen the team’s resources and support competitive opportunities.

Cadet Lieutenant Aspen Douglas and Cadet Lieutenant Commander Tyler Webb attended the event as representatives of the NJROTC unit. During the evening, the cadets took the stage to formally receive the donation, which is earmarked specifically for the marksmanship team.

According to program leadership, the funds will be allocated toward improving training resources, upgrading specialized equipment, and broadening the team’s participation in regional competitions.

“This community support makes a tremendous difference in our ability to provide meaningful opportunities for our cadets,” said Chief Jason Williams, Naval Science Instructor and coach of the NJROTC Marksmanship Team. “We are grateful to everyone who invests in these young people and helps them continue to learn, improve, and compete.”

The contribution follows a successful trip to Nashville earlier this month, where the team’s precision and sporter shooters competed in a regional tournament. The cadets also participated in team-building activities designed to enhance discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship—core tenets of the NJROTC program.

Marksmanship serves as an integral part of the unit’s leadership development program, teaching cadets concentration, responsibility, self-discipline, and attention to detail. Opportunities to train with quality equipment and compete against other teams further reinforce these values while representing Mountain Home High School and the local community.
