WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Families turned out in Walnut Ridge on Saturday morning for the annual community health fair and Touch-a-Truck event hosted by Lawrence Healthcare.
The event took place in a parking lot near Walnut Ridge Elementary School, where a variety of emergency vehicles, including police cruisers, ambulances, and a medical helicopter, were on display. Lawrence Healthcare staff provided free wellness checks as part of the day’s offerings.
Young attendees were especially interested in exploring the vehicles. Walnut Ridge resident Luke McFerrin shared his enthusiasm, noting a long-time interest in fire trucks and ambulances.
“My dad used to work at a hospital, and ever since then I’ve been following fire trucks and ambulances,” McFerrin said. “I’ve just been watching them and seeing how they roll. I used to always say I wanted to be a fireman when I grow up.”
McFerrin added that while his childhood dream of firefighting remains, he is now also considering a career in dirt-hauling.
The event combined health services with interactive experiences, appealing to adults and children alike, and continues to stand out as a community tradition in Lawrence County.
