JONESBORO, Ark. — Students and staff at the Visual and Performing Arts Magnet celebrated their improved state accountability rating on Friday morning with a campus parade.

The school recently raised its Arkansas Department of Education performance grade from a 'C' to a 'B,' a milestone Principal Lee Caldwell attributed to goal-setting and hard work.

“We’ve got some really hard-working teachers. Our kids have worked hard,” Caldwell said during the event. ”They have set goals for themselves and achieved those goals, and that showed in the letter grade improvement. We’re just so proud of them.”

The parade brought students, teachers, and school leaders together to mark the achievement, which was highlighted on the latest Arkansas Department of Education school report card. Performance ratings are based on factors such as student growth and overall academic achievement.

The celebration aimed to recognize the efforts of the entire school community in reaching this goal.
