PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing felony charges for allegedly fleeing the scene of a head-on collision that injured five people, including a child, according to an arrest affidavit.
The crash occurred on Oct. 21 near C Street and Rector Road. A gray SUV reportedly swerved into the path of another vehicle traveling south on Vance Street, colliding head-on, the affidavit states. Four adults and one child were injured in the crash, with four of the victims transported to a hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Cody Greer, left the scene following the impact, according to Detective Cpl. Tron Beasley of the Paragould Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the scene and were informed en route that a vehicle involved in the crash had fled.
Investigators later identified Greer as the suspect. During an interview at the Paragould Police Department on Oct. 22, Greer admitted to being involved in the collision, according to the affidavit. Greer told investigators he left the scene because he was scared and panicked.
Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause to arrest Greer on Oct. 22, charging him with a Class D felony for leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries. The judge set Greer’s bond at $35,000, which must be secured by a surety. As a condition of his release, the bond order prohibits Greer from contacting victims, witnesses, or others involved in the case and requires him to remain law-abiding.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
