JONESBORO — Arkansas State University is gearing up to host its annual Halloween Art Bash on Friday, Oct. 30, from 5-7 p.m. The event will take place in the recently opened Windgate Hall of Art and Innovation, offering both creative activities and an opportunity for the community to explore the state-of-the-art facility.
The event is a collaborative effort between Art + Design and the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CoECS), showcasing the interdisciplinary spirit of Windgate Hall. Caitlan Smith, an instructor in art history, highlighted some of the evening’s features, including student artwork and collaborative projects, 3D-printed giveaways crafted by computer science students, and interactive art displays created by art students—one of which attendees can even walk into.
In addition to the art displays, the new gallery space of Windgate Hall will be transformed into a haunted house, featuring contributions from various campus groups. The Spooky Lab, for instance, will display X-ray art designed by radiology students. Other exhibits include vintage Halloween postcards from the Arkansas State Museum’s collection, animal skeletons from the College of Veterinary Medicine, and fortune-telling activities.
Guests are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes as they enjoy an array of arts and crafts. Activities include painting rock monsters, coloring, face painting, and creating paper flowers with guidance from Martha Molina, the visiting Día de los Muertos artist at the Bradbury Art Museum. The first 50 visitors will also have the chance to paint their own tote bag.
For younger attendees, the event features a trunk-or-treat filled with candy, temporary tattoos, and buttons.
The Halloween Art Bash is free and open to the public. For more details about the event, visit the Arkansas State University website.
