A Paragould man faces a felony charge after a crash injured four people and led to his alleged flight from the scene, according to local authorities.
Judge Curtis Hitt of the Greene County District Court determined there was probable cause to charge Cody Greer, 35, with failing to stop after an accident involving death or personal injuries, which is a Class D felony. Greer is currently being held in the Greene County Detention Center on a $35,000 bond, with a court order instructing him to avoid any contact with the victims.
The crash occurred on the evening of Oct. 21 near C Street and Rector Road. According to an affidavit, officers responding to the scene learned that one vehicle—a gray SUV—had fled. Witnesses told police they were heading south on Vance Street when the SUV swerved into their lane, causing a head-on collision.
Cpl. Tron Beesley of the Paragould Police Department stated in court documents that four adults and a child in the victims' vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
Greer was later interviewed at the Paragould Police Department on Oct. 22. During what police describe as a Mirandized interview, court documents state that he admitted to being involved in the crash and leaving the scene. "The defendant stated that the reason he fled was because he was scared and panicked," Beesley wrote.
Greer's next court appearance has not yet been announced.
