LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) marked World Day Against Trafficking in Persons by illuminating its Central Office Headquarters in blue lights on July 29 and July 30. The display aimed to raise awareness of human trafficking, honor survivors, and emphasize the importance of recognizing and reporting the crime.
ARDOT Director Jared Wiley noted the department’s commitment to combating trafficking through staff training and public awareness. "The men and women of the Arkansas Department of Transportation have been trained to recognize the signs of human trafficking and know who to call when they observe behavior that fits the patterns," Wiley said. "Our staff members remain diligent and determined in their commitment to this cause. It is important for the traveling public to be alert and informed as well. Together, we can make a difference."
ARDOT outlined several warning signs for the public to watch for in potentially trafficking-related situations.
Those who suspect human trafficking are encouraged to contact local law enforcement or appropriate national hotlines to report their concerns.
