A federal grant of $775,977 has been awarded to the Sharp County Family Centered Treatment Court to enhance mental health and recovery services for families grappling with addiction. The funding, provided by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention under its fiscal year 2025 Family Treatment Court Program, aims to strengthen families and promote recovery.

The grant will enable the court to offer expanded mental health care, resources for relapse prevention, and supportive services for parents participating in the program. The specialty court collaborates with Hope Behavioral Health to deliver substance use treatment to families involved in the legal system. Through a combination of judicial oversight, coordinated care, and family support, the program seeks to help parents sustain recovery while creating safer and more stable homes for their children.

Circuit Judge Adam Weeks emphasized the importance of accessible treatment and practical support in helping families succeed. “Our partnership with Hope Behavioral Health connects families with the care they need,” Weeks said. “This grant will expand our ability to address mental health needs, support relapse prevention, and provide services that help families make lasting progress.”

The additional resources will assist parents in identifying and managing relapse risks and overcoming challenges that can disrupt household stability. Judge Weeks also highlighted the broader community impact of the initiative, stating, “Our goal is to help parents achieve and sustain recovery, protect children, and strengthen families. This award is a significant investment in that work and in the Sharp County community.”

The Sharp County Family Centered Treatment Court’s mission aligns with broader statewide and national efforts to integrate recovery-focused approaches into the judicial system, particularly for families affected by addiction. By addressing mental health and substance use issues, the program seeks to reduce cycles of dependency while fostering family stability.
