A Lawrence County man is celebrating a $150,000 Powerball win after matching enough numbers in the October 17 drawing to secure the substantial prize.

The man, identified only as Micheal W., purchased the winning ticket at Jordons, a convenience store in Portia. He claimed his prize three days later at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Center, according to lottery officials.

Micheal W. shared that he plays Powerball regularly once the jackpot climbs to $250 million or more and always selects the Power Play multiplier option, which increases non-jackpot winnings.

The man and his wife have already made plans for the prize money. They intend to purchase a car for their son and save the remainder for future use.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery offers Powerball tickets at retailers across the state, with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The Power Play option, available for an additional $1 per play, multiplies winnings other than the jackpot by up to 10 times, depending on the multiplier drawn.
