Two Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) employees were recently recognized for their exceptional contributions at the Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) Annual Conference, which took place October 11-13 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. The event drew over 500 attendees, including administrators, faculty, and staff from the state’s 22 public community colleges.
Jessica Clanton received the 2026 Faculty Member of the Year award. As a Physical Science faculty member at ASUMH, Clanton has made significant efforts to help students develop scientific thinking and problem-solving skills. Outside the classroom, she has been pivotal in addressing emerging challenges related to artificial intelligence and played an instrumental role in organizing the college’s well-received Astronomy Night event in February.
Nancee Sherick was honored as the Outstanding Staff Member of the Year. In her role as Administrative Specialist for ASUMH’s School of Technology and Health Sciences, Sherick provides essential support across multiple health sciences programs. Known for her professionalism and organizational skills, she has been recognized as a reliable presence who fosters smooth daily operations and a positive environment for students and staff, even amid institutional changes.
The annual ACC conference serves as a venue for celebrating excellence across Arkansas’ community colleges and highlights the statewide impact of employees like Clanton and Sherick on their campuses and communities.
