Mountain Home High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets recently gained valuable experience and earned several top honors during back-to-back regional competitions held on October 8 and 9 in Tennessee and Arkansas.
On October 8, the cadets participated in the Joe Sharbel Fall Classic at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. Both the precision and sporter marksmanship teams competed, testing their skills against other NJROTC programs while learning from their peers. Outside of competition, the cadets engaged in a team-building laser tag activity, which strengthened their communication and camaraderie.
The following day, the team traveled to Bentonville, Arkansas, to compete in the Area 19 Brains and Brawn Qualifier. This event tested participants in academic, physical, and technical disciplines, with Mountain Home achieving notable results across multiple categories.
In the academic Brain Brawl competition, Mountain Home secured two podium finishes. Team 1 captured first place, and Team 2 earned third place, highlighting the strength of the unit’s academic preparation.
The Drone team also demonstrated skill and precision in technical challenges. They earned first place in the slalom event, finished third in both the obstacle course and autonomous flight categories, and secured third place overall in the competition.
The Raiders team showcased their athletic and teamwork abilities, reflecting the program’s emphasis on physical fitness, discipline, and collaboration.
NJROTC program leaders expressed pride in the cadets’ dedication and discipline across all events. They also extended gratitude to local sponsors, families, and community members whose support enabled the team to attend the competitions. Such opportunities, they noted, are instrumental in helping students develop leadership skills and experiences beyond the classroom.
The two-day competitions allowed Mountain Home’s Bomber Battalion to represent their community, build confidence, and demonstrate the teamwork and commitment that define the NJROTC program.
