Pinkston Middle School’s seventh grade students are inviting area veterans to participate in the school’s third annual “Take a Veteran to School Day” on Friday, Nov. 6. The event will connect students with veterans during social studies classes to learn about their experiences and service.

Veterans are encouraged to bring photos, memorabilia, or other keepsakes to display and discuss with small groups of students. However, no weapons are allowed on campus. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Friday, Oct. 30, to assist with seating and meal arrangements. RSVPs can be made by calling the school office at 870-425-1236 or emailing llacefield@mhbombers.com. Attendees should indicate whether they will stay for the morning, the afternoon, or the entire day.

Activities begin with veteran arrivals from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. Veterans will sign in, set up their display tables, and visit with one another over coffee and donuts sponsored by Kim Shaw Allstate Insurance. Students will greet arriving veterans at the front entrance, assist with carrying items, and guide them inside. Parking will be available in any open spot at the front of the building, including spaces along the drive-through loop.

The day's schedule includes a welcome at 8:30 a.m., followed by morning classroom visits from 8:50 to 11 a.m. Lunch, which will be catered by Holy Smokes BBQ and sponsored by Century Bank of the Ozarks, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afternoon classroom visits will begin at 12:35 p.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. Veterans are welcome to stay for as much of the event as their schedules allow, even if they can only attend part of the day.

Pinkston Middle School is located at 1301 S. College St. in Mountain Home. The event aims to honor veterans and provide students with an opportunity to learn directly from those who have served their country.
