A Norfork man has been charged in connection with an early October accident that left a passenger seriously injured after falling out of a moving truck. According to an Arkansas State Police (ASP) crash report and affidavit, the incident occurred on Oct. 3 along Arkansas State Highway 5, roughly two miles north of the Old Joe area.
Officials say 25-year-old Kyler Allen Gene Fellers was driving the truck, while 29-year-old Lucas Roberts, also of Norfork, was a passenger. For reasons not disclosed in the report, Roberts was hanging out of the vehicle's window when he fell to the roadway. He was airlifted to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, with serious injuries.
The ASP investigation included witness statements that indicated Fellers fled the scene immediately after Roberts fell. Witnesses also reported that Fellers later drove back through the accident site but did not stop to assist.
Fellers is now facing several charges. These include a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license and obstructing governmental operations, and an unclassified charge of failing to remain at the scene and render aid. He was released on a $10,000 bond.
Court records show this is not Fellers' first encounter with law enforcement. Since 2019, he has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on seven separate occasions, all on misdemeanor charges. Among those are charges for driving while intoxicated in 2024 and for tampering with an ignition interlock device. Most recently, he has continued to face charges related to driving on a suspended license.
