JONESBORO, Ark. — The primary runway at Jonesboro Municipal Airport has closed as part of ongoing construction, airport officials confirmed this week. The closure marks the next phase in a major renovation and expansion project aimed at modernizing the facility.
According to airport officials, the runway upgrade is approximately 50% complete and is expected to reopen by October 1. In the meantime, airport operations are continuing on the secondary runway, ensuring flights can proceed with minimal disruption during the construction period.
The airport’s new terminal is also under construction and has reached about 40% completion. Crews are currently working on installing climate-control systems and electrical infrastructure. However, weather delays have pushed the project past its original November completion date. Officials have not yet announced a revised timeline for the terminal's completion.
Progress on the airport's updated hangars is also advancing steadily, with construction reported to be around 50% complete. These facilities remain on track and are projected to be finished by October 1.
