Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams and Baxter County Judge Kevin Litty are set to deliver their annual State of the City and County updates at the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Monday, Nov. 9. The event will take place in the Trout Room of the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home campus, located at 1600 S. College St.
The breakfast, which is sponsored by Farmers & Merchants Bank, will run from 7:30 to 9 a.m., beginning with 30 minutes for breakfast and networking. Presentations from Adams and Litty are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The event is free to attend, and breakfast will be provided. Individuals interested in attending are encouraged to register through the Chamber by calling 870-425-5111.
The timing of this year’s forum comes less than a week after the Nov. 3 general election. Both Adams and Litty appear on the ballot without opposition, with Adams seeking another four-year term as mayor and Litty pursuing a second term as county judge after winning the March Republican primary.
According to the Chamber, the breakfast offers residents a chance to hear about local accomplishments, updates, and plans for the future. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions directly to both officials.
This will be the second year for the “State of City and County Breakfast,” part of a broader breakfast series launched by the Chamber in 2025. Other forums in the series focus on topics such as education, healthcare, real estate, and tourism.
Last year, Judge Litty highlighted Baxter County’s financial health, noting it was free of debt, and outlined future projects, including a new building on Sixth Street to house the assessor, collector, and a voting center on the site of the old First Baptist Church. He also detailed plans for a permanent facility for the county coroner’s office and previewed a proposed $40 million county budget for 2026.
Mayor Adams used the 2025 event to discuss the construction of the Mountain Home Community and Aquatic Center, which has since opened. This year, residents may hear updates on the first full year of the center’s operation.
Baxter County will soon see leadership changes, with Sheriff John Montgomery retiring after over 20 years of service. Mark Hollingsworth, who won a runoff in March, will take over as sheriff in January.
