The Walnut Ridge City Council voted unanimously Monday night to support Issue 3, a proposed statewide ballot measure aimed at granting municipalities greater authority to promote retail economic development.
According to city officials, the measure would give local governments more tools to encourage business growth in their communities.
Residents interested in learning more about Issue 3 and its potential impact on Walnut Ridge and other Arkansas cities are encouraged to attend a public meeting Tuesday evening. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. in the community meeting room next to the Lawrence County Library in Walnut Ridge.
Issue 3 is part of a broader conversation about enhancing economic development opportunities across the state. Local officials will be available at the meeting to explain the measure and answer questions from residents.
