A Jonesboro man is facing serious legal consequences after authorities accused him of luring two juveniles into an apartment and robbing them at gunpoint.

Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler on Wednesday found probable cause to charge Darrick Harris, 19, with aggravated robbery, a Class Y felony. If convicted, Harris could face a prison sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life, according to Arkansas law.

The arrest stems from an incident reported on Oct. 18. According to an affidavit filed in the case, two juvenile victims said they were approached on the street by two individuals, including one who identified himself as "DJ." The pair allegedly persuaded the juveniles to accompany them to an apartment in the 1800 block of Self Circle.

"They stated that once inside the apartment, the two individuals pointed a gun at them and stole a cell phone and cash from them," Detective Austin Morgan said in the affidavit.

Footage from city-owned surveillance cameras reportedly captured the suspects walking with the victims, corroborating their account.

On Oct. 20, local police distributed images of the suspects to officers for identification. According to the affidavit, one officer, who had previously worked as a school resource officer, recognized "DJ" as Harris. She also identified the second suspect as a 17-year-old known to associate with him.

Later that day, police responded to a shots-fired call on Mary Jane Drive. During the investigation, three individuals attempted to flee but were apprehended. Among them were Harris and the 17-year-old suspect, Morgan stated in court documents. Both were reportedly wearing clothing that matched items seen in the surveillance footage from the robbery.

Harris remains in custody at the Craighead County Detention Center on a $150,000 cash or surety bond. If released, Judge Fowler ordered that Harris must wear a GPS ankle monitor and have no contact with the victims. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
