A former Conway surgeon has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a patient during a 2025 medical examination.
Guy Langley Peeples, a former doctor at Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway, was convicted Friday by a Faulkner County jury. The charges stemmed from a November 2025 incident involving a 70-year-old patient. According to court records, Peeples received 15 years in prison for the rape conviction and an additional five years for second-degree sexual assault, with the sentences set to run consecutively.
Peeples must serve all 15 years of the rape sentence and at least half of the separate sexual assault sentence before he becomes eligible for parole, the sentencing order shows.
Authorities were alerted to the assault by a nurse who was remotely monitoring the examination room and witnessed the incident. A bench warrant was issued soon afterward. Peeples was booked into the Faulkner County Jail on November 18, 2025, with bond set at $5 million.
The former physician also faces additional charges related to separate allegations by a 38-year-old patient who came forward in February of this year, according to investigators. Peeples voluntarily surrendered his medical license to the Arkansas State Medical Board shortly after turning himself in to authorities last year.
Further updates on his pending charges are expected as court proceedings continue.
