The Arkansas National Guard has rotated troops stationed in Washington, D.C., as part of an ongoing mission. On Tuesday, officials announced that 80 members of the 39th Mobile Brigade Combat Team departed for the nation’s capital.
This deployment will replace 60 members of the same unit, along with personnel from the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, who have spent several months participating in President Donald Trump’s 'D.C. Safe and Beautiful' task force. The 39th Mobile Brigade Combat Team members are scheduled to remain in Washington until February 12, 2026.
Arkansas first began supporting the mission on December 1, 2025. Currently, a total of 170 Arkansas National Guard members are participating in the task force, which is part of Trump’s broader strategy to address crime in the capital.
The multi-state deployment of National Guard troops to Washington has sparked legal challenges in both state and federal courts.
This marks the sixth rotation of Arkansas guardsmen to the capital since President Trump returned to office. National Guard missions like these are typically coordinated through agreements between state and federal officials.
