JONESBORO — As early voting begins in Arkansas, Jonesboro residents can take advantage of free public transportation to cast their ballots.

GOJO, the city’s public transit service, is offering complimentary rides to and from polling locations until early voting ends on Nov. 2. To qualify for the free service, passengers need to inform the bus driver of their voting plans.

“Whenever you go back, you just tell them that you just got done voting and you’re wanting to go home,” said GOJO Director Lee Wells. “They’ll take you back to the transfer center, and from there you can get on your destination bus.”

For residents in Jonesboro, early voting is being held at the Craighead County Election Annex. The nearest GOJO stop to the annex is situated along West Washington Avenue at the Craighead County Justice Complex.

The offer is intended to provide greater convenience and accessibility to voters who may face transportation challenges, ensuring more people have an opportunity to participate in the electoral process.

Early voting runs through Nov. 2 at designated sites across the state.

For information on polling locations, voters can contact their local election commission.
