The Walnut Ridge City Council voted unanimously Monday night to support Ballot Issue 3, a statewide measure that would grant municipalities greater authority to encourage retail economic development.

The city announced that a public meeting to discuss the proposal will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the community meeting room next to the Lawrence County Library. The meeting will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the potential impact of Issue 3 on local communities.

City officials are encouraging residents to attend the meeting to become informed about the measure and its implications for communities across Arkansas.

Ballot Issue 3 will be decided in the upcoming election and, if approved, could have significant effects on how Arkansas cities and towns plan for economic growth and attract retail investors.
