A traffic stop west of Corning late Friday night resulted in the arrests of a Pocahontas man and a Jonesboro woman on drug possession charges, according to information provided by Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole.
The incident occurred on October 16, 2026, at approximately 11:07 p.m. when a Clay County deputy pulled over a vehicle on U.S. Highway 67. During the stop, the deputy advised the driver of the reason for being pulled over and requested his identification for a license check.
The driver was identified as 42-year-old Kendall Redus of Pocahontas. The deputy discovered that Redus was on probation and subject to a search waiver. Upon inquiry, Redus reportedly denied having anything illegal in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia in plain view, which later tested positive for methamphetamine, authorities stated.
Both Redus and a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 40-year-old Kristina Love Johnson of Jonesboro, were taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Detention Center. They were formally charged with possession of methamphetamine or cocaine under 2 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation remains ongoing.
