St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on Coley Drive in Mountain Home will host a free workshop titled “Praying in Color” on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Keller Hall. The session is designed for individuals who find it challenging to focus during traditional prayer or struggle to express themselves through words.
Rather than relying on spoken or written prayer, participants will use drawing, simple shapes, patterns, and colors to explore an alternative path to prayer. The goal of the event is not to create a finished work of art but to help attendees slow down, center themselves, and connect spiritually through creative expression.
The concept behind “Praying in Color” stems from Sybil MacBeth’s 2007 book of the same name, which introduced this visual and meditative approach to prayer. The practice has since gained popularity across various denominations and faith communities.
The workshop at St. Andrew’s is open to the public and welcomes individuals regardless of church affiliation. No artistic skills or prior experience are needed, and all necessary materials will be provided.
