JONESBORO — A dispute over missing shoes escalated into an alleged hammer attack, resulting in the arrest of a 32-year-old Jonesboro woman.
Police say Shaniquia Keosha Taylor faces charges of aggravated assault, a Class D felony, and resisting arrest, a Class B misdemeanor. A judge found probable cause for the charges on Monday, October 19.
Jonesboro police responded to the disturbance at Garden Manor on October 17. According to witnesses, Taylor chased another woman outside with a hammer.
The alleged victim told investigators she confronted Taylor, believing Taylor had taken her shoes from her apartment. The court affidavit states that Taylor then pursued the victim and attempted to strike her with the hammer.
When officers arrived at Taylor’s residence, she reportedly resisted arrest during initial efforts to detain her, according to the probable cause affidavit. After a brief struggle, officers handcuffed Taylor and transported her to the Craighead County Detention Center.
A judge set Taylor's bond at $20,000. She is scheduled to appear in court again on November 23.
