The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has confirmed a boil water notice for specific areas served by Bull Shoals Water Systems. The precautionary advisory applies to residents on Alford Drive, McDonald Meadows Parkway, and Susan Lee Circle as of Thursday.
Officials issued the notice due to a loss of normal system pressure caused by a main line break, which raises the possibility of contamination entering the water supply. Customers in the affected areas are advised to boil all water used for drinking or food preparation briskly for one minute before use. Additionally, ice cubes made with unboiled water should be discarded, and only boiled or bottled water should be used for making ice.
The boil water notice will remain in effect until the ADH determines the water is safe. This assessment requires one set of three bacteriological tests that confirm the water is free of bacterial contamination and show adequate disinfectant levels throughout the system.
Further updates will be provided when the notice is lifted.
