PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould resident is facing felony charges after allegedly sending death threats to another individual, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Greene County.
Donald Watson, whose arrest was authorized by Greene County District Court Judge Curtis Hitt on October 1, has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, and harassing communications, a Class A misdemeanor.
The case began on September 30, when a person reported a series of threatening messages and phone calls from Watson to the Paragould Police Department. According to the affidavit, the alleged victim said Watson began repeatedly messaging and calling them on September 29. Despite being asked to stop, the communications reportedly continued and escalated to threats of violence, including threats to the person’s life.
Police said the alleged victim provided text messages as evidence. In one message, Watson reportedly threatened harm, stating, "When I see you tomorrow morning, when you get out of your car it’ll be quick and painless."
On October 1, detectives interviewed the complainant in a recorded follow-up. During the interview, Watson allegedly called and the conversation was placed on speakerphone. Detectives say Watson admitted to making threats during the call, as documented by Detective Cpl. Tron Beasley in the affidavit.
Judge Hitt has ordered Watson’s bond set at $150,000, with surety or another acceptable form of payment. Additional conditions of the bond include a prohibition on contact with the victim, witnesses, or others linked to the case. The order also bars Watson from possessing any weapons and requires him to adhere to ankle-monitor guidelines, as well as comply with laws during the legal process.
Court records remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
