The 44th Annual Bean Fest and Championship Outhouse Races will return to downtown Mountain View on October 23 and 24, bringing two days of music, food, and a uniquely Arkansas tradition.
Festivities start Friday, October 23, when visitors can enjoy the fall colors of the Ozarks, browse local shops and vendor booths, and take in live music. The event showcases Mountain View’s small-town charm, offering opportunities to experience the hospitality and heritage that make it a popular destination.
Saturday, October 24, will feature the weekend’s main attractions. Beginning early in the morning, cooking teams will gather around the courthouse square to prepare large pots of beans, continuing a tradition that many families and groups have upheld for years. Recipes and techniques often pass down through generations, making the event a celebration of culinary heritage.
Saturday also brings the Championship Outhouse Races, a quirky and crowd-pleasing competition where teams race homemade, people-powered outhouses through the streets. Spectators line the course to cheer on the participants in a contest that is fast, funny, and fiercely competitive.
The festival goes beyond its signature beans and outhouse races, offering visitors a chance to experience Mountain View’s culture and community spirit. Live music will fill the town throughout the weekend, and local businesses are prepared to welcome both first-time guests and returning festivalgoers.
