The Hoxie Police Department has received a state grant to upgrade its equipment, according to a statement released by the department on October 16.
The department was awarded $9,894.94 in funding from the Office of Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin. The funds are designated to replace outdated equipment, increase the department’s inventory of body cameras, and purchase additional handheld radios, according to the statement.
The upgrades aim to enhance officer safety and improve capabilities for communication and evidence collection. The body cameras are part of a growing statewide push to increase transparency and accountability in law enforcement, while modernized radios will bolster connectivity during emergencies in the community.
Hoxie’s announcement reflects ongoing efforts by Arkansas law enforcement agencies to pursue grants and other funding opportunities to meet operational needs. For small departments, such funding can play a crucial role in maintaining effective service levels.
The department’s press release did not specify when the new equipment is expected to be fully implemented.
