The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has introduced 'Explore AR Highways,' an initiative designed to inspire travelers to visit some of the state’s most scenic locations. The program invites participants to complete a statewide journey by visiting five designated spots and sharing photos of each destination online.
The destinations include: - City Rock Bluff - Great River Road - Highway 7 Scenic Byway - Pig Trail Scenic Byway - Cossatot River
Participants are asked to post a photo at each location to Facebook or Instagram, tag ARDOT, and include the hashtag #ExploreARHighways. After visiting all five locations, participants may submit an online form to receive a collectible bumper sticker featuring one of the destinations. Additionally, the first 250 participants to complete the program will receive a limited-edition ARDOT Challenge Coin.
According to ARDOT, the program is part of an effort to encourage motorists to explore the natural beauty and unique destinations across Arkansas. With over 16,000 miles of roadway under its management, the department plays a crucial role in connecting residents and visitors to communities, attractions, and outdoor experiences throughout the state.
“Whether you are traveling to work, going on a grocery run, or taking a road trip, you have been impacted by a transportation network that has been expanding and improving for decades,” said ARDOT Director Jared Wiley. “These destinations are connected by more than just the state they are found in. If you reached one of these scenic locations, it’s because a highway brought you there.”
