The American Legion is inviting military veterans from Baxter, Boone, Marion, Newton, Searcy, and Van Buren Counties to a special service session in Harrison on Tuesday, October 17. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 44, located at 411 S. Pine Street.
During the session, American Legion staff will provide information on a variety of topics, including veterans’ benefits, the organization's legislative efforts, membership opportunities, and community service initiatives. A veteran service officer will also be available to assist with claims and answer other benefits-related questions.
In line with its tradition of service spanning over a century, the American Legion continues to focus on assisting veterans and strengthening communities across the United States. The organization’s local chapters determine the nature and scope of their community service with input from their members and local civic leaders.
Founded in 1919, the American Legion is the world’s largest veteran service organization. Its key contributions include spearheading landmark initiatives such as the G.I. Bill and the establishment of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Beyond advocating for veterans, the Legion is committed to fostering youth programs, promoting patriotic values, supporting a strong national defense, and improving the quality of life for current service members.
Veterans in and around the six-county area are encouraged to attend the October 17 session for assistance and to learn more about services available through the American Legion.
