The Mountain Home Bombers secured a commanding 40-3 win over the Siloam Springs Panthers in 6A-West conference play Friday night, fueled by a dominant ground game and a relentless defensive effort.

Quarterback Connor Gentry and running back Easton Shrable combined for over 220 yards rushing to spearhead the Bombers’ offense. Though the Panthers struck first with a field goal on their opening drive, Mountain Home quickly answered. Shrable broke free for a 30-yard gain, followed by two 15-yard runs by Gentry, setting the stage for Shrable to punch in a 3-yard touchdown. With Isaac Ballard’s extra point, the Bombers took a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter.

Mountain Home’s defense was a driving force throughout the game. Ford Coleman sacked the Panthers’ quarterback for an 11-yard loss before Jake Thomas intercepted a pass and returned it 10 yards to the Panthers’ 29-yard line. This set up a 38-yard field goal by Ballard, extending the Bombers’ lead to 10-3 with under a minute remaining in the first quarter.

The Bombers continued to build momentum in the second quarter. Linebackers Michael Anitoni and Elijah Hillstrom combined for a sack that forced a Siloam Springs punt deep in their own territory. Starting from the Panthers’ 31-yard line, Gentry connected with Grady Sheehan for a 21-yard pass, leading to a 1-yard touchdown run by Naz Johnson. Ballard’s extra point made it 17-3 with under four minutes remaining in the half.

Mountain Home added another touchdown before halftime. Gentry completed consecutive 11-yard passes to Eli Reiss, followed by a 16-yard touchdown pass to Landon Clossen with just over a minute left. Ballard’s kick made it 24-3. Coleman closed out the half with another sack, sending a clear message about the Bombers’ defensive dominance.

The defense struck again on the Panthers’ first drive of the third quarter, scoring a safety when an errant snap sailed over the punter’s head and out of the end zone, increasing the Bombers' lead to 26-3. Later in the third, Kobe Dotson recovered a Panthers fumble, and Gentry’s 46-yard run helped set up Johnson’s 9-yard touchdown run. Ballard’s kick extended the lead to 33-3.

Shrable added the final touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter, breaking a 31-yard run and finishing the drive with a 3-yard score. Ballard remained perfect on extra points, bringing the final score to 40-3 with 8:40 left in the game.

Mountain Home committed few penalties during the game, a factor that pleased head coach Steve Ary. The win improves the fifth-ranked Bombers’ record to 6-1 overall and keeps them unbeaten in the competitive 6A-West conference.

Next week, Mountain Home will host the Lake Hamilton Wolves at Bomber Stadium.
