The Mountain View Yellowjackets claimed a commanding 38-0 victory over the Yellville-Summit Panthers in a 3A-2 conference football matchup Friday night.

Mountain View quarterback Noah Davis played a pivotal role, running for 119 yards, passing for 25 yards, and scoring four touchdowns, steering his team to a one-sided win. The Yellowjackets capitalized on key turnovers and maintained control with a powerful ground game.

The game’s momentum shifted early after Yellville-Summit’s Rusty Goodall advanced 12 yards on the opening drive but fumbled while being tackled, with Mountain View’s Alaska McDaniel recovering the ball at the Yellowjackets’ three-yard line. Mountain View responded with a grueling 17-play, 97-yard drive featuring key runs by Davis and Jude Martin. A five-yard touchdown run by Davis put Mountain View ahead 6-0 late in the first quarter.

Yellville-Summit attempted to counter with its own extended drive, moving the ball from its own nine-yard line to the Yellowjackets’ 28. Quarterback Westin Swearingen connected with Goodall and Easton Voight for gains of 13 and 12 yards, respectively. However, the Panthers stalled and turned the ball over on downs.

Mountain View seized the opportunity. Davis churned out runs of 12, 16, and 13 yards, with additional yardage from Martin and McDaniel, culminating in a two-yard touchdown run by Davis. A successful two-point conversion pass gave the Yellowjackets a 14-0 advantage.

Midway through the second quarter, Mountain View extended its lead after forcing a Panthers’ punt. Davis orchestrated another scoring drive, highlighted by passes to George Rector and a six-yard touchdown pass from Rector to Zeppe Gerbine. Davis added another two-point conversion run, putting Mountain View up 22-0 shortly before halftime.

Yellville-Summit found some defensive success late in the second quarter, recovering a Mountain View fumble deep in Panthers’ territory. However, the Panthers’ momentum quickly evaporated as Swearingen was sacked for a six-yard loss by Kannon Clauer and then intercepted by Tyler Clark on the next play.

The turnover led to a quick scoring sequence for the Yellowjackets. Rector’s 17-yard rush set up another Davis touchdown, this time a six-yard run, followed by a two-point conversion from Micah Moore to make it 30-0. The Panthers continued to struggle, turning the ball over on downs after being sacked on fourth down early in the fourth quarter.

Mountain View sealed the game with a seven-play drive that ended in a six-yard touchdown run by Davis. Cole Cook’s two-point conversion pushed the score to 38-0 on the first play of the final quarter.

With the win, the Yellowjackets remain a top contender in the conference race, while the Panthers look to regroup for their next matchup.
