JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro man remains in custody on a $200,000 bond after authorities say he stabbed a family member during a heated dispute.
Christopher McCrary, 33, has been charged with second-degree domestic battering, a Class B felony, as well as unauthorized use of a vehicle and violation of a no-contact order, both Class A misdemeanors. A Craighead County judge also required McCrary to wear an ankle monitor as part of the bond conditions.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police responded to a reported stabbing on Kingsbury Drive on Sunday, Oct. 11. Officers were informed upon arrival that McCrary had fled the scene after attacking the victim.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital. Investigators said the incident stemmed from an argument involving McCrary, his mother, and a sister. The disagreement turned physical after McCrary allegedly directed verbal abuse toward his sister, prompting the victim to intervene. A physical altercation then broke out between McCrary and the victim.
The situation escalated outside the home, where the victim and McCrary’s mother remained as McCrary returned indoors to retrieve a knife and car keys. According to the affidavit, McCrary approached a vehicle outside, and when the victim addressed him, McCrary allegedly stabbed the victim in the right arm.
Investigators noted that McCrary periodically lived at the residence but did not have permission to use the vehicle involved in the altercation. Police further stated that McCrary was under two separate no-contact orders, one involving the victim’s mother and the other the victim’s sister.
McCrary's next court appearance has not been scheduled.
Authorities have not reported the victim’s current condition.
