A Fulton County man sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident in Mountain Home on Thursday night. The Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD) reported that 40-year-old Roman Mabes of Salem was taken to Baxter Health for treatment following the collision.
The crash occurred at 8:17 p.m. when a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Herbert Hines Jr. of Mountain View, Missouri, entered Arkansas State Highway 5 South, also known as 9th Street, from Redwing Trail and struck Mabes’ motorcycle.
According to witness statements included in the MHPD report, Mabes became airborne upon impact before landing in a nearby ditch. Hines told officers he did not see the motorcycle's headlight until his vehicle was already halfway onto the highway.
Hines was not injured in the crash but was cited for failure to yield the right of way, authorities said.
