The Norfork High School culinary team recently secured the regional championship in the Arkansas ProStart competition. This annual event challenges high school teams to showcase their skills in real-world cooking and restaurant management under pressure.

Norfork’s winning menu featured cream cheese and jalapeño-stuffed, bacon-wrapped quail topped with pepper jelly, accompanied by garlic-whipped mashed potatoes, and marinated asparagus with cherry tomatoes, Parmesan, and basil.

The team members—Joyce Webster, Phineas Bitting, and Adelyn Lubbock—will now prepare to compete in the state finals in November.

ProStart, a two-year program for high school students, is designed to introduce participants to the culinary arts and restaurant management fields. The competition provides hands-on experience, allowing students to develop skills essential for potential careers in the culinary industry.
