Fayetteville, Ark. — A Searcy man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 49 in Washington County last week, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
Dustin Kelly Garvin, driving a 2019 Volvo semi-truck, was heading northbound on I-49 on Oct. 11 when the vehicle left the roadway near mile marker 59. The semi struck multiple trees, causing its trailer to separate and collide with the back of the truck's cab, igniting a fire, investigators said.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash. The investigative summary lists clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the incident.
The crash was reported in the early afternoon, with Trooper Christopher Belt identified in the report as the investigating officer.
This is a developing story, and additional information may be made available in the final Arkansas State Police report.
