A Searcy man lost his life in a fiery crash on Interstate 49 in Fayetteville earlier this week.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on October 11. Dustin Kelly Garvin, 32, was driving a 2019 Volvo semi-truck northbound when the vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with multiple trees.

Trooper Christopher Belt reported that the impact caused the trailer to strike the back of the truck’s cab, which then erupted into flames. Garvin did not survive the crash.

The Arkansas State Police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
