JONESBORO, Ark. — A man was taken into custody Monday morning after reports of gunfire in the parking lot of the Walmart on Highland Drive.
Sally Smith, a spokesperson for the Jonesboro Police Department, confirmed officers responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls about the incident. The first report of shots fired came in at 10:53 a.m., and police fielded six calls in total, Smith said.
Video from the scene showed officers detaining the man at gunpoint. Authorities then transported him to a local hospital for evaluation. As of late Monday, the man’s name had not been released publicly.
Smith reported that no injuries occurred during the incident, but property damage was possible. At least one vehicle in the parking lot was struck by gunfire.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
