The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will host a public workshop on Dec. 8, 2026, to discuss the White River Basin Study. The event is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jacksonport State Park, located at 111 Avenue St. in Newport, Arkansas.
The White River Basin stretches across areas of southern Missouri and northern and eastern Arkansas, serving communities, agriculture, recreation, and other water resource needs. The workshop will provide attendees an opportunity to learn more about the ongoing study as well as share their feedback, questions, and concerns about the challenges facing the basin.
The study aims to evaluate the impacts of changes in population, weather patterns, land use, and water demands that have occurred over the past 70 years. It also seeks to identify possible strategies to address current and future water resource needs within the basin.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the workshop at any time during its six-hour duration. Representatives from the USACE will be on hand to answer questions and engage with participants.
For more information, individuals may contact the USACE Public Affairs Office by phone at 501-324-5551 or via email at ceswl-pa@usace.army.mil.
