The Mountain Home City Council will convene at 5 p.m. tonight in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building at 720 Hickory Street. The meeting will include a key mayoral appointment to fill a vacant council seat, among other agenda items.
Mayor Hillrey Adams is expected to present his appointment for the Ward 3 position left vacant by Philip Frame. Two residents, Mary O’Shields and Marshella Norell, have submitted letters expressing interest in the role.
Additional agenda items include a request from the Mountain Home Police Department to dispose of 18 expired body armor sets and a 2018 Ford Explorer. Budget adjustments for 2026 will also be reviewed.
Two ordinances related to zoning changes are set for discussion. The first, presented by Ted Sanders, proposes reclassifying an industrial I-1 zone to commercial C-3. The second, proposed by the McAdams Company, seeks to modify commercial zoning from C-2 to C-2A.
Other ordinance updates include the adoption of the 2014 Arkansas Energy Code, which incorporates the international energy conservation code with state supplements and amendments, to replace an existing city ordinance. Another ordinance proposes adopting the 2026 National Electric Code with localized requirements to supersede outdated regulations. Both measures will be presented by Clay Strain.
The Council will also review minutes from recent committee meetings, including the September 15 Water and Sewer Committee meeting and the October 6 Parks Committee meeting.
Public comments will be heard before the meeting adjourns. The event is open to the public, and all are invited to attend.
