The Viola Longhorn Corral will be the site of several community events tonight, including a dedication ceremony to honor the late Marvin Newton, a longtime superintendent of Viola Public Schools.
Activities begin at 5:30 p.m., when a reception will be held in the school cafeteria. Refreshments will be served, and attendees are encouraged to share favorite memories of Newton, who served the Viola school community for many years.
During the Orange and Black basketball games, the court at the Longhorn Corral will be officially dedicated in Newton’s memory. That ceremony is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m.
Parent-teacher conferences will also be held on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the school, coinciding with a book fair in the school library.
There will be no school for Viola students on Friday. However, the annual Fall Festival will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the school that evening, offering more opportunities for community gathering and involvement.
