Matt Martin, a Batesville native with deep roots in the community, has been elected chairman of the Batesville-Independence County Economic Development Corporation, Inc. (EDC) board of directors. Martin succeeds Landon Reeves, who recently resigned from the position. The board expressed its appreciation for Reeves’ service.
Martin is a graduate of Batesville High School and Lyon College and currently owns Ameriprise Financial of Batesville. As chairman, he will play a leading role in guiding the nonprofit’s efforts to foster economic growth and development in Batesville and Independence County.
The EDC was established in 1981 by the city of Batesville and Independence County to promote local economic development. Its board includes two appointees each from the county, the city, and the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce. The mayor of Batesville, the county judge of Independence County, and the chamber’s executive director all serve as ex officio members, providing additional oversight and expertise to the organization.
