JONESBORO, Ark. — A traffic stop in Jonesboro on Oct. 12 resulted in felony drug and firearm charges for Dylan Ray Holt after authorities reported finding marijuana and a handgun in a backpack containing his wallet.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Officer Lowry stopped a vehicle near Aggie Road and Allis Street after observing the driver fail to use a turn signal at two intersections. Additionally, the vehicle’s registration had expired in June. Holt was identified as the driver.

Both Holt and a passenger were removed from the vehicle. K-9 Officer Davies deployed a police dog to inspect the vehicle’s exterior, and the dog alerted to the presence of potential contraband. Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle, according to police.

Inside, officers reported finding a glass jar containing approximately 3 grams of suspected marijuana, along with a pipe, which the passenger claimed ownership of. Authorities also discovered two baggies of suspected marijuana in the center console, weighing about 4 grams and 3 grams, respectively.

Further inspection revealed a backpack in the back seat containing Holt’s wallet, five baggies of marijuana, a Glock 23 handgun, and a holster. The baggies of marijuana were listed with approximate weights of 2 grams, 3 grams, 5 grams, 6 grams, and 24 grams, according to the affidavit.

Holt was arrested on allegations of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, classified as a Class Y felony, and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with the purpose to deliver, a Class D felony. He was also cited for expired vehicle registration and failure to use a turn signal.

On Oct. 14, Judge David Boling set Holt’s bond at $25,000 cash or surety. Holt’s next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 16 at the Craighead County Courthouse.

Authorities emphasize that all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
