JONESBORO, Ark. — The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas held its second baby formula giveaway Wednesday, distributing essential supplies to families confronting the rising cost of living.

The organization began the day with approximately 1,300 cases of Similac formula, enough to fill two pallets. By the afternoon, only one pallet remained to be handed out, underscoring a significant community demand.

Terry Austin, development officer for the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, emphasized the importance of these events for the region’s 12 counties, ranging from St. Francis to Clay and Randolph.

“We really focus on getting food to our partner agencies,” Austin said, adding that families can also access formula and other necessities through food bank collaborations.

Austin noted that the giveaways come at a critical time as families face steep expenses. “Right now, everything else is very expensive—fuel and food. We’re experiencing that as a nonprofit trying to find donated food or donated dollars to help us buy food.”

For families unable to attend the most recent event, the food bank offers a resource on its website to help locate nearby partner agencies. By using the “find food” feature, residents can access additional support where and when it’s needed.

The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas continues to demonstrate its commitment to assisting families during challenging times, offering clear pathways to vital resources.
