PARAGOULD, Ark. — The Paragould Run Company will hold its third annual “ParaGhoul” race on Tuesday, Oct. 24, offering a blend of fitness and fun as participants gather in downtown Paragould.
The event will include a 5K, a 10K, and a kids fun run, with all races beginning at 8 a.m. at The Crossing Church. The kids fun run will span approximately half a mile.
According to organizers, 315 participants have registered for the event so far, and about 55% of them are traveling from outside Greene County.
The event is supported by a grant from the Paragould Advertising and Promotion Commission, funded by a 3% lodging tax on hotels, motels, and bed-and-breakfasts within the city. The commission helps fund events that draw visitors to the area.
Chris Collier, co-founder of Paragould Run Company, said the race aims to highlight the city while promoting wellness and supporting local causes.
“The purpose is to attract people to the great city of Paragould, to be able to promote healthy lives, and even be able to raise some money for charitable organizations that are doing good work in our community,” Collier said.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, racers are encouraged to don Halloween costumes, and prizes will be awarded to the top three costumes in a contest.
