The Izard County STEM School District has been awarded a $160,781.50 High-Impact Tutoring Grant from the Arkansas Department of Education, marking another year of recognition for its efforts to support student achievement.

Superintendent Fred Walker attributed the accomplishment to the dedication of teachers, students, and parents within the district. The grant aims to bolster academic success through highly targeted tutoring initiatives.

In addition to the High-Impact Tutoring Grant, the district received a $6,986 Commitment to Excellence in STEM Education Grant. This funding was secured through a collaboration between the Arkansas STEM Coalition and the Arkansas Committed to Education Foundation.

According to the Arkansas STEM Coalition, grant scores reflected a combination of submitted documents and required elements, as well as the quality of the timeline, learning standards, product narrative, and budget. Additional points were awarded based on the number of participating schools in the application.

Officials expressed optimism that this funding will further support innovative teaching practices in the district and reinforce its focus on STEM education.
