The Lawrence County Election Committee has announced filing dates for independent candidates seeking municipal office under the Mayor-Council form of government.
Filing opens at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Candidates must submit a petition of nomination, an affidavit of eligibility, and a political practices pledge to the county clerk. The county clerk will then have 14 days to verify if the petition contains a sufficient number of qualified electors.
The filing period closes at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Petitions and required documents must be submitted to the county clerk before the deadline to be considered.
