Paragould, Ark. — Runners and revelers in costume will gather in downtown Paragould on Saturday, Oct. 24, for the third annual Paraghoul 5K/10K. The event, which also features an inflatable costume run, a children’s fun run, and more, will raise funds to support addiction recovery programs at Agape House.
The 5K and 10K races are set to begin at 8 a.m., starting and ending downtown near 101 S. Pruett St. The course will take participants along the paved 8 Mile Creek Trail, which organizers describe as ideal for runners of all abilities, whether aiming for a personal best or enjoying a more relaxed pace. Participants who complete the races will receive finisher medals, and additional awards will be presented by age group.
For those who prefer a shorter course and a lighthearted twist, the inflatable costume run will begin at 8:10 a.m., covering a half-mile distance. Runners dressed in inflatable costumes will compete for prizes awarded to the top three finishers. All participants in this event will also receive event T-shirts.
The lineup continues with the children’s fun run at 9:45 a.m., open to kids aged 1-12. Young participants will be rewarded with a medal, a race shirt, a Paraghoul-branded water bottle, and candy for their efforts.
A highlight of the event is the annual costume contest, also returning for its third year. Prizes will be presented for the best costumes in first, second, and third place.
Entry fees are $50 for the 5K or 10K races, with a $4 processing fee. The children’s and inflatable costume runs each have a registration fee of $15, plus a $1.90 processing charge. For individuals who want to support the cause without participating in a race, a $45 "Spirit Runner" option is available, which carries a $3.70 processing fee. Additionally, organizers are accepting direct donations through the event’s website.
Proceeds will partially benefit Agape House, an organization offering Christian-based addiction recovery programs for men and women. According to its program description, Agape House emphasizes work habit development, employment or education opportunities, mentoring, and reintegration into family and community life.
Registration for all events will close at noon on Friday, Oct. 23. Event details, including registration options, are available on the official race website.
