Family Violence Prevention (FVP) will hold its sixth annual Karaoke for a Cause fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 17, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The event is set to take place from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Lost Ramona’s Barn, located between Batesville and Moorefield.
Proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorships, and contestant donations will directly support FVP’s mission of providing resources, shelter, and crisis services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Independence County and the surrounding region.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour featuring cocktails, followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m. The main event, a karaoke competition, is scheduled to run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This year’s lineup includes 10 contestants, including the event’s first youth participant, who hails from Southside. The competition’s winners will be determined by audience donations placed in contestant-designated hats, with first-, second-, and third-place honors awarded to those who raise the most funds.
After the competition, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to participate in a free-for-all karaoke session.
Organizers stress that the fundraiser not only offers a lively and entertaining evening of community gathering, but also plays a crucial role in supporting FVP’s work. The organization provides vital services to help victims and survivors find safety and assistance during times of crisis. These efforts were poignantly highlighted during a recent candlelight vigil hosted by FVP, which honored 27 women, six men, and five children who lost their lives to domestic violence.
FVP acknowledges the event’s sponsors, including Diamond Sponsor First Community Bank, which contributed $5,000. Sponsorship opportunities, ranging from Silver to Platinum levels, remain open for individuals and businesses interested in supporting the cause.
Tickets for the event are $60 per individual or $100 for a package of two. Tickets can be purchased online through Zeffy until Friday, Oct. 16. Community members are encouraged to attend and help raise funds to sustain services for victims and survivors in the area.
